2K Recruits Apex Legends Producer to Revitalize Troubled Action Game Ambitious Title
2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently working on the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Comes After Mixed Reception
Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's underwhelming early showing last fall.
Recently, 2K president a key figure informed team members about this decision through an internal memo, which stressed that playtesting had indicated the requirement for a more defined direction.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now overhauling the project with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
A Pattern of Key Hires
This announcement follows a similar move taken by the publisher in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete message from Ismailer's communication:
Team—
I understand you all just finished your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a update, I stated the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most motivated and innovative designers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
With your dedication and adaptability, especially over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s the game testing phase was informative. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had refinements needed. It revealed the requirement for a clearer identity.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the input to heart and reimagined the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s positioned to achieve its promise to our players.
The belief in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To advance the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to welcome the new hire as the new Director of the team. After a period of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on next week.
Ben’s guidance and experience in the competitive gaming genre is extensive, having dedicated the last 15 years creating and leading some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, Apex Legends.
Please join me in welcoming him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to continue observing the progress of Project ETHOS in the months to ahead.
David

Title Information and Vision
The upcoming game was unveiled in last year together with a community playtest. Then, 31st Union described the game as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative step forward on the genre."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the description reads. "Face the rivals with unique powers, stakes, and obstacles that evolve every session. Will you safely extract with your hard-earned loot? Alternatively take a risk, put it on the line, and trust your team can achieve the highest spot? The option is up to you."
Project Ethos has not yet received an official debut schedule or consoles, but players can anticipate further news as development advances.
