Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important representative said the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
