Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
